ILC Micro-Chem - our name reflects the combining of services provided by the former Industrial Laboratories and Micro-Chem Laboratories. We have now consolidated the two locations in Mississauga into one large location at 6535 Millcreek Drive (Unit #62).

ILC Micro-Chem is ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 accredited through the Standards Council of Canada to provide a scope of chemical, microbiological and instrumental analyses to Canadian, US and overseas clients.

ILC is committed to helping clients address compliance issues and growing consumer demand for better information on food produced for human and animal consumption. ILC provides consultation and confirmation for regulatory compliance as required by various government levels.

In this era of health and nutrition, consumers are constantly looking for information that will assure them of a healthy and balanced diet.

Effective quality assurance programs need to be in place for in-process as well as finished products, label-claim authentication, product safety and sanitation programs.

ILC Micro-Chem is specialized in analyzing raw food materials, finished food products, pet food and environmental swabs for the food manufacturing industry using chemical and microbiological methods.

Currently, the laboratory consists of the following Departments:

Instrumentation – Among the analysis performed are Vitamin A & E, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Sugars, Sugar Alcohols, Starch, Cholesterol, Fatty Acid Profiles, Beta Carotene and Caffeine.

Chemistry – This department performs Protein, Moisture, Ash, Total Fat, Crude Fibre, TDF, Minerals, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Free Fatty Acids, Peroxide Values and many other wet chemistry analyses.

Environmental Chemistry – The main analyses performed are BOD, COD, FOG, Total Suspended Solids, Nitrate, Nitrite, Phosphorus etc. The Environmental Department operates under the supervision of the Main Chemistry Department.

Microbiology – This department performs a wide range of analysis including Standard Plate Count, Coliforms, E.coli, Yeast and Mold, Staph. aureus, Salmonella, Listeria, etc. as well as the analysis of B-Vitamins by microbiological assay including Biotin, Niacin, B12, B6, Folic Acid and Pantothenic Acid.

Environmental Microbiology – Heterotrophic Plate Count, Total coliforms, E.coli, and Faecal Coliforms are the main tests performed. This department operates under the supervision of the Microbiology department.

Customer Service Department – This Department is the nucleus for all customer communications; it also assists with logging samples, sending reports and invoicing.

Quality Department – the Quality Department oversees the management of ILC Micro-Chem Quality System, including Document control, enforcement of Quality Procedures, verification of records, control charts, Proficiency Testing, Technical Proficiency, Validation of Methods, Complaint Records, Non-conformance records, Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions, etc
